Following the AGM, the following changes were made within the officers & committee;

Christine O’Neil has stood down as Treasurer after long service to the AHA, and has remained on the committee.

Vikki Cannon has been appointed as Treasurer.
Steve Parker has joined the committee.

We thank all our Officers and Committee members for their support and service, and welcome our new appointees into their roles.

But not quite as there’s still time to enter the AHA Championship and Open Shows on May 4th at the Royal Kennel Club building, Stoneleigh.

The Afghan Hound Breed Council has launched it’s 2026 survey today. Through it they hope to collate an up to date view on overall breed health. To find out more and participate follow the link below;

The AHA is saddened to learn of the passing of Jan Beckett, a passionate devotee to the breed. Alongside her husband, Jan campaigned 2 Afghans to their titles, from Wilbus and Kharisar breeding, and was a beloved member of the breed fraternity.

Her smile and persona will be long remembered and sadly missed.

The AHA is saddened to hear of the passing of Peter Harcourt-Brown, heavily involved with the breed through the Kharisar kennel. Peter and his family began the Afghan Yearbook in 1977, which is still being produced today, and remained as editor for 24 years, making a tremendous and valuable contribution to the Afghan world overall through this “living history”.

Our condolences to all his family and friends.

The officers and committee of the AHA wish all of our members and friends a very happy Christmas, and a healthy new year. We look forward to seeing you at our 2026 events !

The AHA is saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Caple.

Mike was an AHA committee member during 1997, & judged bitches at our Open Show in 1998.

His & Helen’s first Afghan was Orashan Emperor Lopan at Morsefield, a solid black male born in 1994 & bred by Roger & Gail Link. He gained his stud book number.

Mike was a devout hound specialist awarded CC’s in our breed & judged the Hound Group at Crufts in 2023.  Better known for their Beagles, Mike & Helen kept a very keen interest in our breed.

Our sympathies to Helen & their three sons & their families.
